In December 1999, an Italian couple were strolling along the Coromandel Coast of Tamil Nadu-South India, nearby was a fishing village named Kovalam. Suddenly, they were surrounded by a group of children who led the couple away from the beach, towards unfamiliar buildings. At its centre, they saw a small church, which had been built in 1806. Around this church over 2,500 children were attending classes under the open sky. The couple, Alfredo and Elena Cuomo, decided on that day that there was an opportunity to help these children and improve their schools. To enable this, they established a humanitarian foundation from Monaco: The Cuomo Foundation and agreed that this part of Tamil Nadu would be its first operational base. Over 13 years have passed and numerous actions and achievements have been added… in Tamil Nadu (South- India), Cambodia, Afghanistan, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Haiti, Brazil, Monaco, Italy, France… in the field of education, culture, and social welfare. The work and commitment continues
